Jute Bags.....

I'm not sure how many of you would agree with me.....but I find Jute bags absolutely classy and elegant.

The characteristic beige color sets a unique style of its own. Also the traditional motifs and the blend of colors makes it all the more interesting. This eco-friendly fiber gives a complete Indian touch and at the same time serves as very trendy MUST-HAVE accessory.

It's the Festive Season yet again....

दिवाली...
The day started off with my neighbors ( never seen them till date) bursting these lousy BIJLIS...
Wish I could strangle the guy who woke me up from a nice and sound sleep...Ahhh, what the hell! It's Diwali afterall !!

Somehow, with all that noise I thought the entire morning was gonna go for a toss. However, surprisingly I was at so amazingly ACTIVE. Helped to clean up the house, helped in cooking, prepared coffee, got ready, packed sweets for all relatives.....
And just when we decided to leave the house, relatives kept stepping in one after the other!!
So there it was, aunts and uncles all decked up in ethnic clothes....Most of them sweating (after walking up 2 floors, DUH!!)
And all we did was just YAP, YAP and Yap....No focus on a subject....but yes, the conversation would just flow like an avalanche!!!

And then after all that yapping and gossiping ;-) ...hunger set in! Couldn't wait for anyone else, had lunch all by myself...watchin Vetaiyaadu Villaiyaadu!! It felt like a typical festive holiday!!

Was just flipping over channels; nothing but celebrity cr@p all along....with tons of celebrities bragging about their personal lives (trying to relate it to their professional life obviously) when they are actually supposed to talk about Diwali as a festival!! (Wow, what a challenging task!)

Later decided to hang out at a cousin's place!! Managed to witness couple of chinese crackers there! Perhaps the most low-profile Diwali I've ever seen! Hardly anyone was bursting crackers. Guess with the economic recession, people have finally realized that it's not worth to BURN money! ....or perhaps even becoming environmental-friendly!! (Yeah right!)

Landed up having a lousy headache in the evening ! Still feeling sick and drowsy!! Somehow the sight of sweets is making me wanna puke!! Bllluuuurrrpppppppp.......
Gonna crash early!! Leaving to Tirupathi tomm....

Random Thoughts

Pretty dull day...yet again!
The weather is beautiful! But certainly not suitable enough to get up from that warm and cosy bed; argghhh....!
It's been raining all day. And I just thought I'd leave for the day, but looks like I'll have to hang in at work for a couple of hours more. Problem out here is that when it starts raining, it never seems to stop. And when I'm on the road, I risk my life as I never stop to shelter myself from it. I hate waiting at these stinky, unclean, unknown places with swarms of flies hovering all over the place. I might as well get drenched from head to toe.
However today, I've decided against it and therefore spending a few more hours at work BLOGGING!! (Atleast until the rains stops)

I have loads of work, but I'm in no mood to really read anything that's going to muddle my mind up. So I'll probably just start afresh tomorrow!

Can't think of anything that I want to write down....
My mind's CRASHING........Shucks!

Mom's B'day! :-)

Today, mommy dearest celebrates her b'day! :-)
It's so nice to celebrate the birthday of the person you love so much! The togetherness and every moment through the day is just so special!
However, I'm quite upset that I'm stuck at work and still haven't got her a gift. I have decided to leave work early .(hopefullly the rains don't play spoilsport)
Planned to get her a mini food processor. She's been wanting one for a long time, and what better occasion to present her with one on her b'day! :-) I just hope the store I'm going to has the model I'm looking for! Thinking of getting her a nice bouquet and some different varieties of cake as well.
Just hope I manage to give her a pleasant surprise with all this!
Couldn't concentrate much at work today. Kept thinking of how to spend the rest of the evening with Mom and Bro. Still so restless!! .....

Birthdays are really SPECIAL! I believe, its that ONE day in the entire year which is meant JUST FOR YOU! No one can rob that joy away, ...a b'day is to re-live those fond memories and most importantly spend it with the people you love the most!

Confused what to buy...

दिवाली Shopping....
Just a week to go before India celebrates one of the most awaited festivals ...Diwali!!
And here I am, thinking about what new clothes I should get for the occasion.

I'm possibly one of the last-minute-buyers who hasn't had the time to shop; or just that I don't have an idea about what to get!
And perhaps all that I could find now in any leading garment store would be the OLD STOCK dying and accumulating dust through every single year.

I thought I'd get myself a nice ethnic skirt. Don't have a single one yet, so put on my experimental hat and decided to hunt for it.
Someone at work told me about this place called Bandhej;....a completely INDIAN store with lovely ethnic clothes! This caught my attention and I decided to drop in to check if I would be able to find something of my choice!

The entrance was so welcoming...gave this amazing feeling that I'd come out with a BROAD SMILE on your face!!

But as the saying goes 'Appearances are ALWAYS deceptive' ...and such was this Store!!
Had someone told me that the owner of this place charges for every single thread of a garment; I would have never had this on my agenda list for the day!

Damn! Considering the rise in inflation; and the present market scenario....I was in no position to afford such absurd prices!

Ladies, perhaps you can relate to this much better....
I saw couple of kurtis (Oh and somehow I guess this place has a totally different dimension when it comes to kurtis!) Even Size L was small for me (considering I'm reallllly tiny and petite!!)
And all of them just seemed so small.
Coming to the texture...you know what kind of handkerchiefs you find some people selling by the roadside...
Ya so when you look at that you pretty much know that it would shrink big time after the first wash...Maybe become half the size!!
These clothes looked somewhat similar. I guess all these garments were pre-washed! That pretty much suggests why everything looked soooo outrageously small!
Now let's come to my favorite observation....THE PRICE!!!
I believe these guys maintain a simple formula for their pricing:
Price = Dimension (SMALL) + Quality (POOR) + Additional charges (Transportation + Store lighting + Rent + xxxx)
So when I picked this kurti, I was quite curious to know how much it would cost! I normally set a budget in mind before buying anything. And if at all, the price of the item I've picked goes above my budget; I still consider it upto a few hundreds more...
So I picked the kurti and turned the tag to take a look at the price. Rs 995.00....
I had to recheck as I felt I read it incorrectly! Each time I read it, the number just seemed to be growing bigger!!! :-)

SO there you go, Small garments with HEAVY tags!!!

The next 20 min I spent in the store was more like a guessing game. Any garment I picked, I'd guess the price. I would have checked this for about 10 types of kurtas...and I was wrong on ALL the 10 attempts!!
Havent got the formula right I guess!! :-)

Hmmm, so that pretty much ended my visit to the store! So much for the ethnic-skirt I had in mine! I wouldn't have bought a single lace from that place! Perhaps the only way I'd get something is, if they decided to have a "Guess-the-price" contest! Actually come to think of it, don't think even that would be possible! Didn't I try that already??? :-D

So today I have decided to go shop for something less complex, easy-to-get and not charged by the thread!

Some Women are Weird!!

Have you ever wondered how SOME women can be so unpredictable?

There aren't too many women I know who are CRAZY, but today I managed to meet one!
And besides I'm not the only one who thinks that way. Most of the people around (Both men and women think so!!)
Ya, so what's so crazy about this female?
Well, not sure if she is an "Attention-seeker" ...or if she's just "Made-that-way"...to sum it up..she's plain and simple CRAZY!
Well, to give you an insight on this-
There is this administration tool using which we can log our queries (basically Support tickets) and this is later processed by a person in the Support department. So ideally speaking, you can find messages like:
1) Printer not functioning
2) Upgrade the s/w on my machine
3) Require admin rights for XXX system
And what our intelligent lady-on-the-block raises??
See this...
1) The SOUND of the water from the fountain is too NOISY! (Oh, and this woman yaps most of the time such that she can be heard across the entire bay!)
2) The security guard looks frightening and doesn't pass good vibes (Guess he felt the same about her!!)
3) Change the bus route and introduce new boarding points such that it caters to the needs of the employees (Well, you know she obviously wanted it to be easy for her and not ALL the employess. And what I did hear is she wanted to get off the bus right in the middle of a flyover, and as the driver refused she got furious!)
4) Provide MORE aerated beverages. (Apparently, Ms.Sophisticated was having a headache and wanted to have something aerated to drink but it had all got exhausted in the wending machines!)
5) Reduce the temperature around her cubicle as her monitor was getting heated up (Oh, there are about 7 of us who sit around the place she does, and we almost freeze with the currently set temperature)
6) You should have separate seats for women in the bus. (I believe she doesnt approve of it when a lady has to sit next to man in the bus if she doesnt find another seat. She feels the man should be cordial and decent enough to get up and find himself another place and let the lady be seated comfortably!)

And the list goes on...Can't really write 'em all!!! :-)
Ya, so I dont understand what it takes for a person like this to act sane!
Perhaps trying to set a very unique status for herself!! What an achievement!!!

Oh, and there's more to this hideous behaviour. Another friend found these posts of hers, copied it to an email and forwarded it to so many friends. And as you know, this got forwarded to a million people...Unfortunately the last person to receive it was this female herself!!
She went straight up to that guy and demanded an explanation for this ruthless act of this!! (Bwwahahhahaaa!!)...Poor guy!

I couldn't wait to complete my tasks for the day and head back home.....Was waiting all through the day for this.............

And why??

I wasn't planning on catching up with friends (or) party my head off (or) watch an interesting movie (or) go on a nice long drive (or) go out shopping (or) throw a surprise party...................(so why was I so excited???)

My volvo bus was scheduled to leave at 22:30...........to Coimbatore (Huh??)

I have lived for more than 10 years in this city, and love this place!! I made life's best buddies here, ate the best and yummiest FOOD I could ever ask for...studied in a fantastic school....graduated from a not so great college (but met my partner here, so yeah! it was great for me in a way!!! :-D ) learnt the do's and dont's in life.....got to live in MY OWN HOUSE......

and lotssss of other interesting stuff.......

And here I was all set to leave to the city that I have always loved!!! And because I was going with my family, it was all the more exciting!! Felt like the 'Good Old Days' again!! :-)

So it all started with a not-so-comfortable journey...I kind of realised that traveling by bus isn't going to help me in future....Out of the 7 hrs journey, if I remember correctly...I would have slept for around 12 minutes....

Anyway, that didnt bother me much as I knew I'd be there on my cosy bed in a few hrs.... :-)

And there you go....to my surprise...we reached pretty early... (Something which has never happened when I've travelled by myself!) ....

Ahhhhhhhhh....It was so good to be home.........climbing those stairs (I never use the elevator, btw!)....and finally took out my fancy keychain (with the michelin logo on it!) and unlocked the door....................

and ALAS!! .....NO POWER!!!! well, perhaps one of those unplanned power cuts that every city in India normally has...Big Deal! It would certainly be restored in no time.....

And waited..............1hr.........................2hrs.......................3hrs....................4hrs................5hrs

And by this time, not only was I red with fury but also sweating ...like I was in the middle of the Sahara desert!!! My cosy-comfortable-soothing house had just turned into a FURNACE!!!!

I then learnt that the city had been scorching for the last few weeks and was experiencing the worst climatic condition ever (What timing!!) ....and that's not it...

there's more to it....Due to shortage in electricity, the city mayor had decided to go ahead and have a load shedding system in place!! (Talk about ways of building the infrastructure of a city!!) .....and the decision was 7hrs of power cut EVERY SINGLE DAY!!!
What the hellllllllll !!!!!
So you probably would have guessed what my 4 day so-called vacation was like!
The only different thing I possibly did was dining out at italian restaurants. Didnt find it so fascinating even!! All I wished for is to get back to B'lore as sooooonnn as I could.
I hated every bit of the city...the weather, the power cuts, the fact that there was NOTHING entertaining to do, .....
And what puzzled me was, this city NEVER seemed to change....it has stayed stagnant all along..
We all change....Time changes everything and everybody
As you grow up, your needs and your lifestyle change as well...
Perhaps, when I was much younger I loved the place as I had friends around, school and college kept me busy...so I didnt have much time to actually laze around.
and now when I visited the city I loved so much, I kind of realised that i didnt quite feel that way any more.
Hmmm....life itself is so transient....
You like something today and tomorrow you get so bored of it!!

Hard Day at Work.....

So here goes....!!
Yay....I'm now officially a member of the blogging community (Better late than never!!)
Okay, just a Snippet for those of you who don't know me... (DUH!!)
I'm a writer by profession....hold on (I'm not finished yet!!) ...a Technical Writer!!
Probably you might have heard of this job profile..but perhaps it just didnt matter to you what its all about!! And I'm certainly not gonna go about explaining this to people in my first post!!
Perhaps...if life doesnt treat me too well in the days to come...i'll provide you an insight on this...!! :-p
Ya, so there you have it....The hectic days are back again...I just joined this job 2 months back...already feel my head's overflowing with too much of data....not able to process it...(Btw, for a person in my profession..that's a serious problem!!)
I love my job...(i havent got to know most of it yet....what the hell!!!)
But yes, I love my job for the moment...for what it demands from me...and what I demand from it??!!@@??! ;-)
It's different...and when I say different I actually mean COMPLEX!!!
Simple things made complex!! Never knew my job could get complex!!! But ya, looks like I was wrong!
Yeah, so there are these days when you feel so happy with the way you are progressing...and then SUDDENLY...there's this bouncer thrown at you...
All what seemed SIMPLE is now COMPLEX!! ..and you get this feeling...'What the hell was I thinking all these days'...
Now the good news is..."I'm not panicking"..(WHOW!!...that's so unlike me!!)
but the bad news is...."I soon might start wondering...i mean panicking"...(DUH!!)
There are a lot of tricks to this game...but I havent mastered it yet!!...Again...TIME is such an important factor....why cant you just rewind/recede or forward/advance it when you want to????
